Amy Jethmal

Amy began her 21 years of dance training in High School as the head leader of an award winning dance and flag team. She studied dance in college and went on to graduate, magna cum laude, with a degree in dance at San Francisco State University. Before moving to NYC to pursue her dance career, Amy performed modern and jazz dance with the Embaje Dance Co. in San Francisco.

After moving to NY and studying at the Martha Graham School, Amy was inspired to try ballroom dancing. She quickly became a teacher at the 5th Ave. Arthur Murray Dance Studio and never looked back. She has worked at Clive and Suzanne's original Manhattan Dance New York studio, and was the Dance Director at Stepping Out Studios before moving to Westchester.

Amy found she was mostly drawn to the elegance and style of the American and International Standard forms of ballroom. Her ballet and jazz training helped in both of these styles and she began competing in the American Smooth Division. In the Rising Star Division, Amy was able to place in the top positions at local and regional competitions. Amy also competed in Swing events around the city in both Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing. Having competed since High School, Amy was excited and happy to challenge herself and pursue a higher excellence in her dancing through competition.

Amy has danced all around NYC, performing at such venues as: The Rainbow Room, Roseland Ballroom, The Supper Club, Lincoln Center for Mid-Summer Night Swing, Swing 46, Brooklyn Music and Arts, Tavern on the Green and many more. She's been a passionate student and teacher of dance. Amy feels that with patience and clarity of instruction anyone can learn to dance and she hopes to inspire the joy of dancing in others.
